Terms
These are the terms of Credit Control Desk. Signing up and uploading your ledger does not commit you to anything. The engagement below applies only once the owner of your account accepts it on the plan screen, after seeing the plan.
- What we do. Credit Control Desk reviews the receivables export you upload, works out what each overdue invoice is owed — including the statutory interest and fixed sum under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 — and prepares a chasing letter for each customer. Letters go out in your name, from your own mailbox or by your hand; you approve the wording before anything is sent.
- Only business customers. The Late Payment Act covers contracts between businesses. You confirm that the invoices you upload are to businesses, not to consumers. We exclude any customer who appears to be a consumer, and we do not chase consumer debts at all.
- No court action. We do not issue or threaten court proceedings, and nothing we send says that legal action will be taken. When an invoice is still unpaid after the final reminder, we tell you, and the decision — a solicitor, your own claim, or letting it go — is yours.
- What you pay. Nothing up front. Our fee is 5% of the money your customers actually pay on invoices we chased, including any statutory interest and fixed sums they pay. We invoice monthly with the list of payments attached. Invoices you tell us to hold, or that your customer pays before we chase, carry no fee.
- Your relationships. You can hold any customer or invoice at any time and we will not contact them. Our letters are polite and factual; the strongest thing they say is that you may refer the matter for recovery.
- Your information. Your ledger is used only to chase your invoices. You can delete your account and everything in it from the settings page at any time; that also ends this engagement for invoices not yet chased.
Using the site
Upload only ledgers you are entitled to share, and only invoices to businesses. We may suspend an account that is used to attack the service or to chase debts we do not accept.
The interest figures
Statutory interest is worked out from the due dates in your ledger: 8% a year over the Bank of England base rate in force on the 31 December or 30 June before the debt fell due (S.I. 2002/1675, art. 4), plus a fixed sum of £40, £70 or £100 per invoice (Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998, s. 5A). If your terms of business set their own late-payment interest, those terms may replace the statutory figure (s. 8); tell us and we use yours.
Version 2026-10-03. These terms were not drafted by a lawyer. Questions: creditcontrol@vitersoft.com.
Credit Control Desk chases business-to-business invoices. We are not solicitors, we do not take court action, and this is not legal advice. Statutory interest figures are worked out from the dates in your ledger.
